At the Dhano Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata, JIS Group held the much-awaited Made in JIS 2025, a lively celebration of student innovation, innovative entrepreneurship, and revolutionary leadership.

The renowned Sonam Wangchuk, an engineer, innovator, and advocate for educational reform, was the Chief Guest at this year’s event. The founding director of SECMOL (Students’ Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh), Wangchuk, is well-known for being the model for Phunsukh Wangdu in the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. He is well-known throughout the world for rethinking schooling and developing long-term solutions for populations living in mountainous areas.

Speaking at the event, Wangchuk said, “Ladakh is beautiful, but it does not have the resources that other parts of India have. Despite it being a place on Earth, it gives the vibe that it is an alien land. So when people in different parts of India complain about not having enough resources, I feel like inviting them to come to Ladakh. See how the culture is thriving despite such a harsh environment. When the situation becomes tough, the strong person continues with their job with more conviction. This is what the students must also do with their lives. Whether they want to do their own business or work in a company, they must be persistent”.

The event also welcomed leading figures from India’s startup and investment ecosystem, including Aditya Arora, Angel Investor, CEO of Faad Capital, and Bestselling Author of Startups of Bharat, and Mayank Bindal, Founder & CEO of Snap-E Cabs, and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, Director, JIS Group.

Aspiring student entrepreneurs presented creative startup concepts to the esteemed guests, who then evaluated and guided them. The best teams were chosen for the grand finale.

Like its previous iterations, “Made in JIS 2025” is a platform that is only intended to highlight student talent and offer practical assistance in transforming ideas into scalable businesses. Building on the tremendous success of its previous years, the 2025 edition demonstrated once more that young minds can provide significant solutions that influence the future, given the correct direction and a supportive environment.
