Sondhye Namar Pore- A Crime Thriller Out Now On DARSHOO OTT

Streaming on DARSHOO OTT, Sondhye Namar Pore is directed by Soumyajit Adak and the Team.

The story is set in Kolkata. Kolkata is shocked by a string of killings. Tension is running high after two horrific murders rock the city to its foundation. The first victim, a female IT worker, never came back after leaving for her night shift at a call center. The second was a naive elementary school instructor. The Special Investigation Team from Lalbazar, headed by Mohor Lahiri (IPS) and her associate Iraboti Sanyal, as well as colleagues Wasim Ahmed, Raima Roy, Suresh Sharma, Rafik, and forensic photographer Indrajit Mukherjee, takes up the case under the direction of Additional Police Commissioner Ranojoy Sengupta. Each victim is discovered with their entire body covered in red paint and their left eye gouged out, revealing a terrifying pattern. Indrajit and Iraboti develop an unexpected emotional bond as the investigation progresses. But who is responsible for these killings? What is this serial killer’s motivation? Will the murderer be exposed by Mohor Lahiri, Iraboti, Indrajit, and their group?

The director said, “We’ve put a lot of effort into creating an exciting and captivating story for this, my first web series as a director. I am so proud of the actors. They have all given outstanding performances. We would especially like to thank Roop Production for supporting the project and believing in us. Additionally, this is my first time working with the DARSHOO OTT platform, and I’m genuinely impressed by their innovative approach and genuine emphasis on high-caliber storytelling. I’m excited to collaborate with them once more”.

The cast of the series consists of Amrita Chattopadhyay as Mohor Lahiri, IPS, Special Branch, Aishwarya Sen as Iraboti Sanyal, IPS, Junior Officer, Special Branch, Somraj Maity as Indrajit Mukherjee, Forensic Photographer, Prantik Banerjee as Binod Basu, Art/Drawing Teacher, and Rana Basu Thakur as Ranojoy Sengupta, Additional Police Commissioner.

Rana Basu Thakur said, “Even though I have previously played a top cop, I will always have a particular place in my heart for ACP Ranajoy Sengupta. With Amrita Chatterjee leading the Special Investigation Team, Aishwarya Sen from the cyber cell supporting her, and Somraj Maity acting as a forensic photographer, I am in charge of an exceptional team of investigators. He is a multifaceted character who alternates between being a strict disciplinarian and a kind, team-focused leader. Despite the hectic shoot schedule, the process was both demanding and rewarding when directed by a dynamic individual like Soumojit Adak. I’ve already had the honor of appearing in two of Adak’s movies in important roles, and I’m set to start work on a third. The experience was made even more memorable by working with a youthful, adaptable cast”.

Amrita Chatterjee said, “This web series was shot during the difficult Covid era a long time ago. The fact that it is now available on the Darshoo OTT platform is encouraging. We used to travel almost two hours each way to a location outside the city and shoot for extended periods of time. Thanks to a youthful and energetic cast, the experience was enriching despite the hectic schedules. It was my first time playing a top cop, and I played a tough senior detective in charge of a special investigation team. For me, as an actor, it was a novel and refreshing arc. Introspective monologues were interspersed with the character’s many shades of grey. It was even more satisfying because, interestingly, I was able to perform the majority of those challenging passages in a single take”.
