The largest single female-led Hindi film franchise, Mardaani, is produced by Yash Raj Films. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of this adored police series, the studio released a teaser for the upcoming installment.

2014 saw the release of Mardaani Part One, and 2019 saw the addition of a sequel. These two movies have enormous cult fan bases and were major box-office successes.

In the Mardaani film series, Rani Mukerji portrays Shivani Shivaji Roy, a tough, daring police officer who always defends the moral high ground and administers justice with great bravery.

Mardaani challenges gender stereotypes and demonstrates how a woman can lead from the front to defend those in need regardless of the risk, making her the leader of the pack in a field dominated by men.
