The official trailer for the upcoming series Thakumar Jhuli has been released, giving viewers a peek into a compelling mystery that combines family dynamics, suspense, and an unlikely investigative team at its center.

The show centers on Girijabala Sanyal, a witty widow in her mid-60s who lives alone in Bishnupur following the deaths of her son and husband and years of being cut off from her family. Her quiet life takes an unexpected turn when her estranged granddaughter, Jaggaseni, unexpectedly returns from overseas. She is well-known in her neighborhood for her keen observational skills and natural ability to solve everyday mysteries.

Jaggaseni travels to the city to attend her friend Amrapali’s wedding. Amrapali is a member of the powerful Singha political family. But what starts as a happy celebration quickly devolves into an unsettling mystery.

Srabanti Chatterjee plays Girijabala Sanyal. She said, “Girijabala is a fascinating character – sharp, intuitive, and quietly fearless. The story’s ability to combine suspense with a very personal bond between a grandmother and her granddaughter is what I found most endearing”.

“Jaggaseni is determined and strong-minded, and her journey through the investigation is both intense and emotional. The two characters’ relationship is what propels the story along,” said Divyani Mondal, who portrays Jaggaseni Sanyal.

“Thakumar Jhuli is a mystery rooted in relationships and human instincts. The narrative is about two generations coming together to find the truth, even though it plays out like a thriller,” said director Ayan Chakraborti.

The cast also includes Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, Brihaspati Mallick, and Debraj Bhattacharya.

Thakumar Jhuli is set to premiere on 20th March.
