The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony Of South Point School

An enthusiastic crowd of prize winners, parents, guardians, teachers, senior staff members, and special guests attended the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at the Science City Auditorium. Students from South Point High School performed the school song and an invocation to kick off the program.
Sri Jaidev Ghosh, the principal of South Point High School, gave the welcome speech. He outlined the major accomplishments and noteworthy events of the 2024–2025 school year in both the academic and extracurricular domains at South Point School and South Point High School.
The dignitaries who graced the stage during the Prize Distribution ceremony were Justice Kalpesh S.Jhaveri (Retd.), the Trustee and President of the Governing Council of South Point Education Society, Shri S. K. Daga, Trustee and Vice President of the Governing Council of South Point Education Society, Smt. Rupa Sanyal Bhattacharjee, Director (Academics) of South Point Education Society, Smt Dalbir Kaur Chadda, Principal, South Point School, and Shri Jaidev Ghosh, Principal, South Point High School.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony commenced with the Puja Utkarsh Samman in four different categories, namely Best Idol, Best Pandal, Best Ambience, and Puja with a Heart. The pupils of South Point High School and M.P. Birla Foundation School were the judges for this initiative. Three pupils, one each from the junior secondary and higher secondary sections, namely Aaron Potsangbam (I-V), Adrija Sen (VI-X), and Swikriti Das Biswas (XI & XII), received the Founder’s Medal for All-Round Performance. Each received a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize. Other special awards that were given away were the M.P. Birla Special Talent Award, which this year went to an ace photographer, Ankur Banerjee, the M. P. Birla Award for Excellence in Co-Curricular Activities, which was lifted by Bhasha Bhattacharjee, who excels in multiple arenas, and the Priyamvada Birla Brave Hearts Award. The last was awarded to Om Ghosh, currently in Class X, a true fighter who suffers from Mesocardia, a congenital heart problem for which he has already undergone two heart surgeries and is awaiting the third. His resilience is an inspiration for all.

The Kalakosh Awards for the seven inter-school competitions held under its banner- Q-Point (inter-school quiz), Cerebrate (inter-school debate), Satrangi (inter-school singing competition), Saaz Sargam (inter-school instrumental music competition), Perceptum (inter-school essay competition), Chessmate (inter-school chess competition), and Masquerade (inter-school drama competition) were also given away on the occasion.
All the class toppers from Classes II to Class XII, the M.P. Birla Award winners, received medals, while the toppers of Classes V, X & XII (all streams) also received cheques for Rs 11,000. The AISSE toppers Satatwya Ghose and Adrika Choudhuri, as well as the AISSCE topper Dipita Majumder, received the M.P. Birla Memorial Award comprising a medal and a cheque of Rs 11,000.
Students in Classes II through XII who demonstrated exceptional intelligence were awarded prizes for general proficiency. To the delight of the House members, the Inter-House trophies were presented to the South Point School and South Point High School champions.

The winners of the subject prizes had previously received congratulations at events hosted at South Point High School and South Point School. During these programs, students also received the Memorial prizes and a few other special prizes.
The brief cultural program that followed was lively and enjoyable.
