The Annual Congress of The Neuromodulation Society (TNS) 2025, the Indian chapter of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS), was held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kolkata by the Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (I-NK). Prominent neuroscientists, doctors, neurologists, and neurosurgeons from India and elsewhere attended the three-day academic gathering.

The opening of the INK-Neuromodulation Centre of Excellence, a first-of-its-kind project in the area, is a significant feature of this year’s congress.

Dr. Purba Basu, Dr. Supriyo Chowdhury, Dr. Jacky Ganguly,  Prof Hrishikesh Kumar, Prof R P Sengupta OBE, Dr Pramod Pal, Dr Paresh Doshi, Dr Preeti Doshi, Dr Sandeep Vaishya graced the inauguration.

By combining state-of-the-art research, sophisticated clinical practice, and training, the Center is anticipated to revolutionize the treatment and quality of life for patients with Parkinson’s disease, stroke, headaches, chronic pain, and other complicated neurological disorders. Neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychologists, and other medical professionals will be brought together by this.

Discussions on the most recent developments in neuropsychiatry, neurosurgery, neuromodulation, and pain management were held with over 300 participants, including students, researchers, psychiatrists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons.

A heterogeneous community of doctors, researchers, and innovators came together for this yearly event to engage in stimulating conversations, scholarly exchange, and practical learning. The Congress showcased state-of-the-art advancements in neuromodulation as well as the wider spectrum of illnesses affecting the brain and nervous system, from mental conditions and functional neurosurgery to movement disorders and chronic pain.

The meeting was attended by eminent national and international dignitaries. Prof. Dr. Robin Sengupta, OBE, Prof. Dr. Paresh Doshi, President of TNS, Dr. Preeti Doshi, Secretary of TNS, Prof. Dr. Hrishikesh Kumar, Vice Chairman of I-NK, Prof. Hagai Bergman, Prof. Mark Baker, Prof. Stuart Baker, and Prof. Arjune Sen graced the event.

According to the organizers, the congress and the new Centre of Excellence would establish Kolkata as a leader in neuromodulation clinical treatment and research, giving patients in India and abroad fresh hope.
