Trailer Of Korpur Out Now; An Intriguing Film By Arindam Sil

At a formal event at Lalit Great Eastern, the official trailer for the eagerly awaited Bengali film Korpur was unveiled, setting the stage for a suspenseful thriller directed by renowned filmmaker Arindam Sil.
The film weaves a complicated tale of power, governance, and ideology while telling the tale of an education scam that takes place over several decades. Korpur, which is based on Dipanwita Roy’s book Antardhaner Nepothhey, examines a terrifying disappearance that has lasting effects over several decades.

The cast of the film consists of Rituparna Sengupta, Bratya Basu, Shaheb Chattopadhyay, Arindam Sil, Arpan Ghoshal, Lahoma Bhattacharya, Ananya Banerjee, and marks the acting debut of noted journalist and political personality Kunal Ghosh. Rumki Chatterjee, Kanad Maitra, Sanjib Sarkar, Sandip Bhattacharya, Pradipta Roy, Avishek De Biswas, Payel Roy, and Tapasya Dasgupta will also be seen in pivotal roles in the film.
The movie promises to be a thought-provoking cinematic experience as it examines themes of social justice, politics, and corruption.

Director Arindam Sil said, “We have tried to make an interesting thriller with Kolkata as the background spanning over more than two decades. We’ve already done some work. It is intended for our viewers to observe and value our work. There is no political connection in the film. This is simply a work of fiction. There was much controversy as to why I cast Kunal Ghosh in the film. But when the film releases, watch how he acted so well”.

“Korpur is a story that challenges perspectives. It is not like anything else. We have previously produced thrillers. The narrative is based on Dipanwita Ray’s audacious book and dares to pose difficult questions. A script that strikes a balance between political insight and such potent emotional undertones is uncommon,” said producer Firdausul Hasan.

According to producer Adipta Majumder, “Korpur is a crime thriller film, a story that goes beyond conventional storytelling to confront layered truths of time and society. The film, which is based on Dipanwita Roy’s novel, combines intense human emotions with incisive socio-political commentary to create a deeply moving and thought-provoking story”.

Ananya Banerjee said, “It is due to the expert guidance of the director that I could pull off the role of a strict teacher in the film. This will be an amazing film, and it will surely create history. The story is great, and the cast has such fantastic actors. It will be a treat for the audience”.
Korpur produced by Friends Communication and Kahhak Studios, will be released on March 19, 2026.
