Uber Enhances Moto Safety With New Features And Safety Kits

Uber is distributing 3,000 safety kits nationwide and implementing new technology-driven safety features to increase the safety of two-wheeler drivers and passengers.
The Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Shri Harsh Malhotra, today gave safety kits containing helmets, reflective vests, safety stickers, and protective gear to a select group of Uber Moto drivers in Delhi as part of the first phase. Uber also intends to improve helmet adoption by implementing in-app “helmet nudges” for riders and AI-powered Helmet Selfies for drivers. Moto rides will now have the first-of-its-kind Women Rider Preference feature, which lets female drivers search for female riders.
Because of their affordability, practicality, and traffic-navigating skills, bike taxis have emerged as a popular mode of transportation.
Uber Moto’s New Safety Features
Helmet Selfies for Drivers: This first-of-its-kind AI-powered feature guarantees helmet use compliance. Before embarking on a journey, drivers are occasionally asked to snap a selfie while wearing a helmet. They can’t start the journey if the helmet isn’t there.
Helmet Nudges for Riders: Before a motorbike trip begins, riders will receive an in-app reminder to put on a helmet. This will motivate riders to stay safe and wear helmets while riding.
WRP (Women Rider Preference): Originally introduced for automobiles, WRP will now be available for motorcycle rides, enabling female drivers to filter for only female riders at their discretion. Women drivers will have more flexibility and peace of mind with this option, especially after hours.
Along with these new initiatives, every Uber Moto trip is supported by important safety features like an in-app emergency button, a 24-hour Safety Line, phone number anonymization, and RideCheck, which alerts Uber to long stops, midway drops, and route deviations so that it can check in with the driver and rider. These initiatives further Uber’s mission to improve the safety, dependability, and accessibility of two-wheeler mobility for millions of Indians.
