WBOA Outlines Excellent Initiatives As Part Of Bone & Joint Week

At the office of the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association (WBOA), a press conference was organized on 4th August, which is the National Bone and Joint Day. The entire week from the 3rd to the 10th of August is celebrated as Bone and Joint Week.
The theme this year is Old is gold- 360 degree care for the elderly, ensuring mobility, dignity, and longevity.
People aged 60 and above in India are projected to rise from 10.1 percent in 2021 to 15 percent by 2036. As a result, issues like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis have become top causes of disability in elderly individuals. This is the reason why the Bone and Joint Week campaign was devised by the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA).
The press conference was graced by Dr. Gaur Gautam Kar (President), Dr. Sabyasachi Santra (Honorary Secretary), Dr. Dinesh Kumar Jaiswal (Vice President), Dr. Soumyadip Dutta (Joint Secretary), Dr. Anindya Dutt, Dr. Arnab Karmakar, Dr. Sunit Hazra, Dr. Utpal Bandyopadhyay, and others.

Ortho Clubs in different parts of Bengal are also organizing impactful events as part of the Bone and Joint Week 2025. Some of the clubs that have taken active participation are Kalyani Ortho Club, Howrah Orthopaedic Club, East Kolkata Ortho Club, Barasat Ortho Club, Purulia Ortho Club, Jhargram Ortho Club, and many more.
The activities that the Ortho clubs organized were a free elder joint check-up camp, a walkathon, a free Bone mineral density (BMD) camp, an elderly care clinic, Vitamin D estimation, and many more.
