Women’s Health & Maternal Care Initiative Now Open In Ghatshila

With the help of government and community partners, iKureTechsoft Pvt. Ltd. and MSD for Mothers announced the opening of the Women’s Health & Maternal Care Initiative at Barajuri Gram Panchayat, Ghatshila. Through a tech-enabled, community-led approach backed by outreach centers and certified Community Health Workers, or iKure Community Health Activists (iCHAs), the initiative improves maternal healthcare.
Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), representatives of the Panchayat Samiti, the Mukhiya (Panchayat Head), the Panchayat Sachiv, the Sahiyas, and local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) attended the launch event. The Mukhiya symbolically watered a plant to start the ceremony, signifying a shared commitment to protecting the future generation.
Comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care, early detection and treatment of high-risk pregnancies (such as sickle cell anemia and gestational diabetes), and encouraging institutional deliveries are the main objectives of the program. Along with creating strong connections with both public and private facilities, it also strengthens community health systems through outreach centers, capacity building, and iKure’s WHIMS (Wireless Health Incident Monitoring System) platform.
With the help of MSD for Mothers, iKure has made significant progress in the aspirational districts of Khunti and Gumla, Jharkhand. In partnership with the Government of Jharkhand, it has trained more than 200 iCHAs (ASHAs, Sahiyas, and ANMs), helped 2,500+ pregnant women, and achieved about 90% of institutional deliveries. Building on this achievement, Phase 3 will start in Barajuri Panchayat and spread to ten Panchayats, with plans to progressively reach nearby areas. To support pregnant women with severe anemia, malnutrition, and other high-risk factors, this phase prepares village women to serve as iCHAs.
In line with India’s pledge to lower the maternal mortality ratio to 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), maternal health continues to be a national priority. In order to enhance early detection, make programs easier to access, and increase public knowledge of safer pregnancies and better outcomes, iKure encourages cooperation with healthcare practitioners, governmental agencies, academic institutions, and development organizations.
