15-Hour High-Risk Heart Surgery Saves The Life of 63-Year-Old Man

In a rare medical miracle, a 63-year-old man who had a life-threatening condition involving a blocked heart vessel and a dangerously enlarged artery was given a new lease of life following a difficult 15-hour heart surgery. Not only was the extent of the damage remarkable, but so was the accuracy with which several procedures were skillfully integrated to restore his health.
With chest pain, the patient—who had no significant medical history—was taken to the emergency room. He had a severe aneurysm that extended from his chest to his abdomen, along with internal artery tears and indications of a diminished blood supply to the heart, according to the doctors at Narayana RN Tagore Hospital in Mukundapur. Because of the complexity, traditional interventions were not an option.
He was taken right away for surgery, where a group of experts under the direction of Dr. Atanu Saha, Senior Consultant in Cardiac Surgery, carried out a complex procedure that included bypassing a blocked coronary artery, replacing the aortic valve, and reconstructing the ascending aorta and arch in one operation.
The patient made an equally impressive recovery. After receiving therapy and rehabilitation, he was released from support within 24 hours, mobilized early, and released within 10 days.
Mr. Abhijit CP, Director of Narayana RN Tagore Hospital and Corporate Growth Initiatives at Narayana Health (East), said, “This case serves as evidence of Narayana Health’s integrated expertise. Additionally, it demonstrates our dedication to bringing cutting-edge cardiac care closer to people, where even the most challenging conditions can be effectively treated in a single location”.
This case illustrates the value of prompt intervention and specialized care in addition to the technological developments in heart surgery. It acts as a reminder that, particularly in older adults, it is important to never disregard early symptoms like chest pain.
