A press conference was organized to announce 150 years celebration of Nilratan Sircar Medical School & College. Dr. Dwaipayan Mukherjee, Joint Organising Secretary, DR. Abhijit Ghosh Chairman, Dr. Sourav Datta, Organising Secretary, of 150 years Celebration Committee, Dr. Manas Gumta, Dr. Saurin Panja, Dr. Satyadip Mukherjee and other renowned doctors and ex Students of  Nilratan Sirkar Medical School & College graced the event.

Sealdah Municipal Hospital was transformed into Campbell Medical School in 1874 due to the rise in demand for modern treatment as a part of various projects for raising the image of the British Government after the Sepoy Mutiny and the end of the rules of East India Company. Later in 1948, it was upgraded to Campbell Medical College & Hospital, whose name has been changed to Nilratan Sirkar Medical College & Hospital, on the name of Sir Nilratan  Sircar, one of the brightest students of the College and renowned physician of the country. A small establishment of the now has become Nilratan Sircar Medical School & College (NRS). In 2023, NRS celebrated its 150^th Birthday.

Sir Nilratan Sircar ( 1861-1943), Dr. Haymabati Sen, Dr. Ramchandra Datta, Dr. Ramchandra Dom, Politician & MP,  Dr. Ves Pej, a member of the Bronz wining Olimpic HockeyTeam, Dr. Giita Ghosh, first Ledy Paratrouper, and many other doctors famous in various fields have been students of this hospital.
