The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized a press conference at The Park Hotel, Kolkata for the International Mining & Machinery Exhibition 2022, which will also host the Global Mining Summit 2022.

The Press Meet was addressed by Mr. Shiv Siddhant Kaul. Deputy Chairman, CII Eastern Region, and Managing Director, NICCO Engineering Services Ltd, Mr. Sunil Duggal, Chairman, CII National Committee on Mining and Group CEO, Vedanta Ltd; Mr. Rp Ritolia, Co-Chairman, CII Mining & Construction Equipment Division and Mr. VK Arora, Past Chairman, CII Mining & Construction, Equipment Division, and Chief Mentor, KCT Group and Mr. Saikat Roychowdhury, Regional Director, CII Eastern Region.

One of the main economic sectors in India is the mining sector. It supplies many significant industries with essential raw materials. India ranks fifth in terms of total coal reserves and is the second-largest coal producer in the world.

India is now both the second-largest producer and user of steel in the world. 11.49 lakh people are employed in the metals sector, which accounts for 7.06% of all employment.

The Global Mining Summit (GMS) and International Mining Machinery Exhibition, organized by CII in collaboration with the Ministry of Mines and Coal every two years, is the premier mining industry event (IMME). Major countries have participated in the Summit over the years, including Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK, etc. Global mining giants are drawn to the event, which offers a platform for cooperation, technology transfer, and networking possibilities with important international companies in the industry. It also showcases the newest innovations in the industry. More than 10,000 business attendees and more than 400 exhibitors from around the world attend the event.

The 16^th edition of GMS and IMME will be held from 16^th – 19^th November 2022.

GMS is scheduled from 16^th – 17^th November and IMME will continue till 19^th November 2022 at Eco Park, Rajarhat, Kolkata, India.
