Chairperson of the Kolkata International Film Festival Raj Chakraborty and Chairperson of the short and documentary section Parambrata Chatterjee have both tested positive for Covid-19. A number of eminent personalities connected with the Film Festival have tested positive and hence the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival has been postponed.

With the increase in the number of Covid cases in the State and to stop the further spread of contamination among cinema lovers, the festival has been deferred. It was originally scheduled to happen from 7th to 14th January.

Despite sending invites to eminent personalities for attending the film festival, the members of the film committee requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to postpone the festival. After considering the present situation in the state, Chief Minister paid heed to the request of the film committee members and deferred the film festival.

The next date of the festival will be announced after the Covid situation in the state is better and the cases decrease.
