3rd Disha Samman 2020 Awarded to The Society For The Welfare of the Blind
Disha Eye Hospitals bestowed the 3rd Disha Samman 2020 upon The Society for the Welfare of the Blind over a brief ceremony following all precautionary measures, at the auditorium of Disha Mahanagar in New Town, Rajarhat. The award is given to acknowledge the achievements of visually challenged people and also organizations that work towards the benefit of these people.
The Society For The Welfare Of The Blind, an NGO, received the award for the support that they have provided to the visually impaired people during the pandemic.
Disha Samman was handed over by Mr. Debashis Sen, Chairman, HIDCO to Mr. Biswajit Ghosh, Secretary, Society for the Welfare of the Blind in the presence of Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Chairman & Managing Director, Disha Eye Hospitals.
During the ongoing pandemic situation Society for the Welfare of the Blind had reached out to the visually impaired, who were rendered unemployed due to COVID, with basic rations so that they can survive. To date, more than 600 blind people have been served by them.
The Disha Samman consisted of a Plaque and a cash prize of Rs 50,000/-.
