72 Prize Winning Idols at Red Road Durga Pujor Carnival
The Red Road Durga Pujor Carnival brought an end to the Durga Puja festivity in Kolkata.
72 prize winning idols from across the city took part in this carnival. The decor, idols were showcased for the general people assembled at Red Road. Energetic dance and song performances accompanied each Durga Puja idol.
The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Indranil Sen, MP-actress Nusrat Jahan with her husband Nikhil Jain and other eminent dignitaries graced the occasion.
The carnival is sponsored by the State Government and marked the end of the grand festivities.
The carnival began with policemen performing dare devil acrobatics on bikes. The policemen were dressed as Shiva and Durga. Also spotted was a couple in dhoti and kurta on a bike carrying dhunuchis.
Some of the prominent themes among the pujos at the carnival included refugee issue, importance of Bengali, temples, palaces, tolerance and conservation.
Some of the pujas that took part in the carnival were Sree Bhumi Sporting Club, Kashi Bose Lane, Ekdalia Evergreen, Nawpara Dada Bhai Sangha, Jagat Mukherjee Park, Hatibagan Sarbojanin, Suruchi Sangha, Tridhara Sammilani, Chorbagan Sarbajanin and others.
