7th Edition Of Cinemar Samabartan To Be Organized At Gem Cinema
West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (WBFJA) announced the nominations for the 7th edition of the West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award 2022 – ‘Cinemar Samabartan’.
The Chief Guest was Shri Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, National Award winner actor-director, Mr. Kaushik Ganguly, eminent director Anik Dutta, renowned actress Ms. Paoli Dam & popular directors Mr. Birsa Dasgupta and Mr. Prasun Chatterjee.
There are seventeen award categories in the popular segment, eight award categories in the Technical Award segment, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The theme of the award ceremony is “Where There Is No Imagination There Is No Horror” to stimulate the imagination and create new perspectives.
The nomination categories are Best Film, Best Director (In the memory of late Shri. Hiralal Sen), Best Actor in Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Actor in a Negative Role, Best Actor in Comic Role, Best Music, Best Playback Singer (Male), Best Playback Singer (Female), Best Background Score, Most Promising Director, Most Promising Actor, Most Promising Actress, Most Popular Film of the Year, Most Popular Actor of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award (in the name of Late Satyajit Ray).
Dhritiman Chatterjee will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Award categories for the Technical segments are Best Screenplay, Best Cinematographer, Best Editor, Best Lyricist, Best Art Director, Best Sound Designer, Best Costume Designer, and Best Makeup Artist.
Speaking at the event, Kaushik Ganguly said “This is a great award and one which I look forward to very much. The journalists are the ones who love and criticize our films. And to get awards for our works from them is a special feeling indeed”.
Paoli who has been nominated in one category said “It feels special as I did only film this year. And to get nominated for that film is indeed special. The theme is catchy and I hope that new ideas are generated around that theme”.
The award ceremony will be organized on 8th January 2023 at the “Gem Cinema”. It was once a popular destination for film lovers but is now an abandoned single-screen building. This is located at 159/8 AJC Bose Raod, Entally, Kolkata – 700014.
Nirmal Dhar, Secretary, of and West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association (WBFJA) said “We will not make any changes to the state of the cinema hall. So be prepared to experience something new. Keeping in line with our theme, we will have a black carpet and the lighting in the hall will suit the theme very well”.
The WBFJA Awards will be interesting and unique for sure.
