A musical fashion show was organized to showcase the wardrobe of Tagore family titled Thakur Barir Saaj Poshak.

The collection was showcased by Devlina Kumar, Sayantani Guha Thakurta and others.

Alokananda Roy, Sudarshan Chakraborty, Debasish Kumar and Ratan Dey, Mayor In Councils, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee graced the occasion.

The fashion show was designed and choreographed by Neelay Sengupta. The narration was by Gouri Basu (Director, EZCC, India) and the research was done by Krishna Basu and Neelay Sengupta.

The line was inspired by the Tagore family’s style of dressing over the years. The silhouettes were a blend of the old style Indian dressing and the revolutionized styles adopted in the 19th and 20th century. A subtle touch of the Western culture also was seen in the dressing style.

The outfits were made out of Khadi. Banarasi zari work, crotia work, embroidery and kantha work was used in the clothes to showcase the culture and heritage of the Tagore family.

Speaking at the occasion, Neelay Sengupta said “I have been trying to promote indigenous fashions. This line mainly was introduced so that the young generation could understand the rich culture of Bengal and imbibe them in their lives”.

Dressed in heavy jewellery and a sari, Devlina Kumar cast a pretty picture at the event. “I am wearing so much jewellery today. Neelay’s designs are awesome and I couldn’t ever imagine myself in such attire. Only Neelay could have imagined it” said the actress.

For Sayantani Guha Thakurta, who looked equally beautiful in the sari and heavy jewellery, the dress reminded her that Puja is nearby and that the festive feeling has already begun.

The collection is priced between Rs 3000 to Rs 8000.
