In India, the life of a girl is not that easy. We live in a patriarchal society and girls are deprived of many rights in every step of her life. Star Jalsha’s new show Mohor is one such story of a girl who has to fight for her right in the society.

The story of Mohor is about a girl named Mohor who belongs to a conservative middle class family in Jalpaiguri. She is a meritorious student and is encouraged by her mother, elder sister and her teacher to pursue higher education and become a teacher. However her father decides to stop her studies and marry her off. She however runs away to Kolkata to pursue her higher studies. In the college where she enrols, she meets Shankhadeep, the member of the college governing body. He leaves no stone unturned to make her life a living hell. Mohor remains determined in her pursuit to complete her studies. What happens next?

Sona Saha and Prateek Sen will be seen playing the lead roles of Mohor and Shankhadeep in the show.

Leena Gangopadhyay, producer and writer, Mohor said “Even when I was growing up, my elders were concerned whenever I came back home late. And now due to the demands of my work, I have to return home late. What I mean to say is we women need to prove ourselves and show the reason for our actions. Only then can we get the required freedom”.

Sona Saha who plays the lead role of Mohor in the serial mentioned that when she wanted to become an actress, her family did not support her idea. However later they saw what she was doing and appreciated and supported her efforts.

The show is produced by Magic Moments Motion Pictures who have created shows like Kusum Dola, Sreemoyee and others before.

Mohor will go on air from 28^th October onward, Monday to Friday at 8 Pm only on Star Jalsha SD and Star Jalsha HD.
