In the august presence of director Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the lead pair of Shikara namely Aadil Khan and Sadia, the promotion of the film Shikara was done at a multiplex in Kolkata.

The film shows the love story of Hindu Kashmiri and also deals with the Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir. The film in many parts is also inspired from the book Our Moon Has Blood Clots written by Rahul Pandita.

The film is produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Aadil Khan plays the role of Shiv Kumar Dhar while Sadia plays the role of Shanti Dhar in the film. Sadia and Aadil have never acted before and hence their innocence have come out in the portrayal of the characters.

The director took a time span of eleven years to make the film. He has dedicated the film to his mother.

The director added that he wanted to make Shikara in Bengali too.

The director and the lead pair asked the audience to watch the film and if they liked it, they should tell others to watch it. Many people have asked for the boycott of the film and so the team urged the audience to at least watch the film before deciding about it.
