Dr.Madan Mohan Reddy, MS, FRCS (Sr Consultant, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Joint Replacement Specialist) interacted with the media in Kolkata to highlight on Unicondylar Knee Replacement Surgery. The treatment is available at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

According to Dr Reddy, this is an alternate to total knee replacement. There is no age limit for this operation and there is no stage limitation as well. A person can opt for this surgery at any stage of Osteoarthritis. The doctor mentioned that this surgery has been in practice for the last one and half years.

The highest aged patient who has been operated on was eighty nine years old. Till now Dr Reddy had operated on 8 cases and they all have been extremely successful. The operation takes 45 minutes to complete. After the completion of the operation, within ten days the patient will be able to indulge in sports and other activities.
