A screening of the film Daniel’s Diary- The Death of a Goddess took place recently at Rotary Sadan in the presence of actors Sean Banerjee, Gulshanara Khatun, director Indranil Sarkar and others. This is the debut feature film of director Indranil Sarkar.

The story of the film shows how religion often turns ugly when politics and superstition blend with it. The film is a narrative by Father Daniel (Sean Banerjee) who was haunted by the monster made from superstition, religion and politics. He witnessed how an ordinary girl becomes a victim of the situation and how a goddess died at the hands of men.

Sean Banerjee who plays Father Daniel mentioned that his character was not the typical Father that one gets to see around them. So playing it was not much of a challenge for him. “This was my first time in Purulia. The story had so much emotions and sentiments that I had a sad feeling when the shoot got over. I am excited about the film. I hope this will be well appreciated” said the actor.

Gopal Talukder, Rayati Bhattacharya, Paramita Mukherjee, Samaresh Basu, Bhaswati Halder and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The story and direction is by Indranil Sarkar. The editor is Ribhu Bhowmick. The music is by Tapan Sinha.

The film has been shot in Purulia.

The makers of the film are eyeing for a World Premiere at Cannes and after that the distributors will decide as to how the film will be released.
