  • From Bhiku Mhatre to Madhu Mangal Rane, how has the journey been in Bollywood so far?

My journey in Bollywood has been great. When I put Bhiku Mhatre on Bollywood’s timeline, it was the time when filmmakers were experimenting with characters and stories. Some of these characters became iconic. From Bhiku to Madhu Mangal Rane, one thing I can vouch for is that I have got to learn a lot during the process. Now, with the character ‘Madhu Mangal Rane’, I got an opportunity to work in a situational comedy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all, the journey has been great, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • Like your character Madhu Mangal Rane, have you ever indulged in solving some scenarios using detective skills?

I’d like to believe that we all have those detective instincts that undeniably give us insights into multiple situations. I have never broken relationships like the character, but I have, on many occasions, used these skills to solve a problem or confusion.

  • We saw you grooving in the song ‘Basantiaaj’ which is a fast-paced dance number. How difficult was it to dance in a completely different get-up with prosthetics?

I always wanted to try my hand at such dance numbers but, oh, it was a tough job. Though dancing while wearing the prosthetics was difficult, eventually when the song was loved by everyone – all the hard work paid off. I’m an actor. I must adapt to every situation and do my best with whatever comes at me. This is all a part of a growing process, that helps me evolve as a professional.

  • If you knew someone like Madhu Mangal Rane, who would you want him to spy on?

Realistically, I would like to spy on Diljit Dosanjh. He is someone who has constantly mesmerized audiences with his music and screen presence but is a man of a few words. It was such a great experience working with him, he is so energetic and talented. He is a paradox if I might say, and it would be great to know more about him.

  • People have really appreciated your comic timing in the movie, would you want to explore the genre more often in the future?

I am open to exploring all kinds of roles and narratives, comedy is something I enjoy watching as well as being a part of. And with this film, I’ve only grown to believe that one must experiment with everything, you never know what might strike a chord.

Do not miss the film!!
