Grand Finale of Kalajyoti Mahotsav 20-21 Organized
Kalajyoti Mahotsav 20-21 was hosted by Kalajyoti in collaboration with The Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The main aim of the event was to sustain Indian Classical performing art in these grime times. The Mahotsav aimed to involve legendary artists, whose years of dedicated presentation would surely motivate the upcoming exponents and send out a joyful message to the young dancers. It was also to involve as many young talented dancers as possible and provide a stage with respect and recognition.
Kalajyoti organized a brilliant program on the 26th of January 2021, with an inauguration by the famed vocalist of Bangladesh Raziya Sultana Munni. Senior disciples of Kalajyoti and Guru Monalisa Ghosh presented harmonized choreographies. Monalisa Ghosh paid tribute to Bharat Mata with a sloka written by Rishi Aurobindo.
This was continued with a workshop on Nrityabhinay by Prof. Omprakash Bharti, HOD performing Arts Section, Mahatma Gandhi International University, Wardha.
To involve National and International veterans and youngsters, Kalajyoti Mahotsav 20-21, Season II, continued on 21st March,21 on the virtual platform. The veteran dancers were Guru Kalamandalam Gopalakrishnan, Kathakali, Guru Meenu Thakur, Kuchipudi, Guru Vani Madhav, Odissi, Guru Shila Mehta, Kathak, Guru BananiChakrabarty, Gaudiya followed by several talents from National and International scenario.
The Grand Finale of Kalajyoti Mahotsav – 20-21 was celebrated on 26th and 27th March, at Kalamandap – The Ethnic Theatre.
The honorable guest of honors was Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Smt. Aloka Kanungo, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Dr. Malabika Mitra, Sri Arunava Roy, Head Of Production, Doordarshan, Kolkata, Sri R. N. Goswami, Regional Director, ICCR, Kolkata.
An auspicious beginning to the Grand finale was done with a live group chanting of Ganapati Vandana with dancers between the age group of 5 to 7 expressing with Hasta Mudras in sitting position. This innovative idea of Guru Monalisa Ghosh demanded appreciation.
Several other dance performances kept the audiences engaged.
Kalajyoti Mahotsav 20-21 concluded with felicitations to every performer and backstage assistants.
