Producer Indrani Banerjee who is very much involved with the day to day activity of Unity Pictures is all excited before the release of the short film One Night Stand. The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with her in an exclusive chat. Excerpts..

Tell us about your association with One Night Stand.
Indrani Banerjee- Well, I am the executive producer of the house and I am well aware about the unique ideas of the director. So when I heard the name, I said that many films and short films have been made on that name. But he asked me to read the script. When I read the script, I then understood that the film will actually arouse the curiosity of the audience and also surprise them. Bengalis love thrillers and this will be a great treat for them.

What was the primary challenge that you faced as a producer of the film?
Indrani Banerjee- I have never interfered with the creativity of the team as I have full belief in their abilities and creative knowledge. Our main challenge was to show a good film with the use of minimal equipment and minimal makeup. This was what I had to see. But I am blessed that the director Indranil and the actor Sounak both have been extremely helpful and they have done a good job. Now it is up to the audiences as to how they will like the film.

Since your brother is the director of the film, do you give advice to him during the shooting of the film?
Indrani Banerjee- No, we keep our personal and professional life separate. I have learnt many things from both Indranil and Sounak. I did not know much about the camera but now I know a bit about it. It is not that I am the producer so I will be doing certain things and the other people will be doing the other things. We work together to make a film and often brainstorm about the script. At Unity Pictures, we all do things together.

Since the film is releasing during Christmas, what are your expectations from the film?
Indrani Banerjee- Audience is aware about Unity Pictures and the kind of work we do. They know that our work always has an element of twist. We have never stuck to the known path. One Night Stand is one such movie made with a lot of effort. It is the festive season, the chill has set in and the film will be a great gift for the audiences this winter for sure.
