Tirtha, Nandini Bhattacharya, Sanjeeb Sarkar, and many other eminent guests were part of this event.
Speaking at the event, Nandini Bhattacharya said “A lot has been said about the sexual orientation of Rituparno Ghosh and why he dressed up in feminine clothes. I think it is high time that people should respect him as an artist and stop questioning his sexual orientation. He deserves more respect from us for his amazing films”.
Sanjeeb Sarkar said, “He was the voice of protest against the rigid social norms. It is with his films that he protested against these social practices. He broke away from the superstitions and rigid societal norms”.
The speakers highlighted the fact that Rituparno Ghosh was the director who brought the elite Bengali audience back to the cinema halls. Earlier, they used to shun away from watching Bengali films.
This unique initiative of First Cut Production deserves to be applauded!!
