Ujjaini Mukherjee, Manomay Bhattacharya, and Rupankar Bagchi have collaborated and formed their first-ever band titled UMR. The name of the band is the initials of the name of the singers.

The specialty of the band is that this is a Hindi band and the singers want to reach out to the national audience with their songs.

The three singers Ujjaini, Manomay and Rupankar, Usha Uthup, Joy Sarkar, and others graced the first music video launch of UMR- Jab Barse Sona.

Jab Barse Sona has been composed by Rupankar Bagchi and the lyrics were penned down by Ujjaini Mukherjee. The song has been sung by the three singers.

Speaking at the occasion, Rupankar said “Most artists in Kolkata have ego issues and that hampers them from collaborating with the other musicians. I had earlier formed a band too. But this time, I am glad that like-minded individuals like Manomoy and Ujjaini agreed to form this band for reaching out to the pan-India listeners”.

Ujjaini who loves to sing Hindi songs said that she agreed immediately to join the band when Rupankar called her and told her about it. “I know Rupankar da for 15 years now. My first hit song was with him. So when he called me to collaborate for a band, I was more than ready. It is a great opportunity” said the singer

Usha Uthup congratulated the singers for the initiative and praised them for the great work that they have been doing in the music field. “I have always said to the other artists to leave behind their baggage or else they will not be able to perform well. I am glad that these three talented singers have taken the initiative to start a band. If I can be of any help for the band, please feel free to contact me” said the veteran singer.

Manomoy was looking forward to singing more Hindi songs with UMR and reaching out to the audience. He also wanted to break free from the image of singing only Bengali songs.

UMR is presented by The Beats Event Management Company.

The inaugural concert of UMR will take place at The Lake Club on 15^th May, Sunday.
