The British Council and Kolkata’s South City International School (SCIS) have renewed their strategic partnership in English language teaching and learning. Working professionals, college students, and children in Kolkata have benefited from the partnership over the years, as it has helped them improve their English proficiency in a convenient location. Through internationally recognized qualifications, the British Council aims to create global opportunities. The British Council focuses on English because it improves people’s education and career prospects, allowing them to be more successful in India and around the world.

The partnership has mainly concentrated on South City International School students by providing easy access to the British Council’s offerings, as well as SCIS teachers’ professional development through British Council teacher training modules. The partners have now announced plans to expand the program’s age range of participants. Summer Camp and Early Years, two internationally recognized English language programs for younger students, will now be taught at the SCIS.

Barbara Wickham OBE, Director India, British Council, and John Andrew Bagul, Principal Founder, South City International School in Kolkata, graced the occasion.

The British Council’s Summer Camp will provide students with an interactive and engaging classroom learning experience while also developing their creativity, curiosity, imagination, and communication skills. It will provide them with the best possible exposure to storytelling and narration through art, drama, and speech. Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the 10-hour course, which will be delivered between May 23 and June 6, 2022. This will be Kolkata’s first face-to-face summer camp in three years.
