Soumitra Chatterjee’s Book on Paintings Chhobi o Chhaya Released
P. C. Chandra Group paid an ode to veteran actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay at an event held at P.C. Chandra Garden.
The evening celebrated the painter Soumitra Chattopadhyay, by releasing a book on his paintings, ‘Chhobi o Chhaya’ to mark his 85th birthday.
In this book Shri. Chattopadhyay has also written the annotations for each paintings giving expression to his thoughts behind each creation. The book has been published by Dey’s Publishing and the foreword has been written by Shamik Bandopadhyay.
Veteran actress Madhabi Mukherjee, film critic Samik Bandopadhyay, National Award Winning Film Director Atanu Ghosh and theatre personality Sohini Sengupta came together for a small adda Session and shared their experiences of working with the icon.
P.C. Chandra Group is celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of its founder father Late Shri Purna Chandra Chandra in 2019. The year-long celebration will witness various activities of which paying tribute to great personalities is one.
Speaking at the event, Madhabi Mukherjee said “I was first mesmerized by how good looking he was when I first met him. Apart from that he is also very strict. I got to know that when I was working with him in a play”.
Soumitra Chatterjee mentioned that he was not a professional painter but now that the paintings have come out, he will have to be more serious. The audience will now react to how his drawings are.
The book will also be available at the P.C. Chandra Stall at Kolkata Book Fair.
