Eminent author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni was engaged in a session with Jawhar Sircar on her new book The Forest of Enchantments.

The book Forest of Enchantments is a depiction of the story of Ramayana from the point of view of Sita. The story will depict her joys and sorrows from her point of view.

Speaking at the event, the author said “After I wrote The Palace of Illusions, I thought that I will write this story from the point of view of Sita. When I was growing up, elders used to bless and say-be like Sita. As a result of popular retelling of the story of Ramayana, Sita has now become a meek woman. But when I did the research, I found that she was a strong headed woman with a mind of her own”.

The author highlighted on the fact that telling a story from the point of view of a woman will also help in showing how perspective changes with the narrator of the story.
