In the august presence of artist and theme maker Bapai Sen, composer Pandit Mallar Ghosh and others, the theme of four noted Puja pandals was unveiled at an event held at the Press Club recently.

The four Puja committees were Garia Mitali Sangha (Garia Nabadurga), Bhawanipore Muktadal, Jodhpur Park Sharodiya Utsav Committee and Aswininagar Bandhumahal Club.

Jodhpur Park Sharodiya Utsav Committee’s theme focuses on the revival of the jute industry. Jute has been much neglected and the committee members have taken up the initiative to make the new generation aware of the jute industry.

Ashwininagar Bandhumahal Club’s theme is inspired from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s dream project Nirmal Bangla. Iron has been selected by the theme maker to make this pandal. Spoons, buckets, nails and other items are also been used to decorate the pandal. The pandal will uphold the various social responsibilities in front of the audience. The idol will be made by Arun Pal.

Garia Mitali Sangha’s theme is Shona Ma. In its 78^th year, Nabadurga will be decked in golden ornaments. Benud Behari Dutt will be making the ornaments for the goddess. Sanatan Rudra Pal will be making the idol. The special attraction will be the creation of an atmosphere of a santal village. Dhamsa madol will be heard in the pandal.

Bhawanipore Muktadal’s theme is the usage of bamboo to create works of art. This will be shown to the visitors coming to the pandal.

With such excellent themes in the offering, these four Durga Pujas must feature in your must see list of pujas in 2018!!
