Dr. Sugata Mitra Spoke On Self-Learning At Educational Session At SPK Jain Futuristic Academy
SPK Jain Futuristic Academy organized an interactive educational session presented by Dr. Sugata Mitra at the school premise.
Author, transformative leader, and Ted Prize winner Dr. Mitra discussed his ground-breaking and well-known teaching approach to “self-learning”.
The modern 1.6 lakhs square-foot Jain Futuristic Academy building is built on a 2-acre campus in Kolkata. The school’s layout encourages studying not only inside the four walls of the classroom but also throughout the entire campus. They have erected numerous clusters with built-in courtyards and play areas at various levels. Each cluster is set up to meet the requirements of the particular children in the specified age range.
Principal of Jain Futuristic Academy Shatabdi Bhattacharya said, “JFA was established with a mission to create a free and joyful learning environment, where each kid will be encouraged to learn via exploratory experiences and experimentation. The children’s journey through learning at JFA will be one that is free from stress, with the end goal being the development of self-motivated leaders and lifelong learners”.
According to Dr. Sugata Mitra, teachers must pose inquiries in order for students to learn. There should not be any exams. Just computing, comprehension, and communication should be evaluated. The Internet is an important subject in today’s times. This subject is not taught by teachers or in textbooks. Yet, self-learning is the only method of learning.
“It is a very uncommon opportunity for the kids, guardians, and teachers to engage in this session of self-learning by Dr. Sugata Mitra as he is an expert in this,” said Darshan Mutha, director of SPJ Jain Futuristic Academy.
With this interactive educational session, the teachers, the kids, and the guardians got to understand the importance of self-learning in today’s times.
