The Oberoi Grand in Kolkata hosted the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K 2022, the largest running event in East India, celebrating sport, art, and charity.

This edition of the TSK 25K, the only 25K road race in the world with the World Athletics Elite Label, was welcomed in by Notun Josh. TSK 25K, which brings together 15,000+ people in a festival of oneness, healthy living, and inspiring the joy of giving, is ingrained in the city’s culture and has grown to become one of the most anticipated events on the city’s sporting calendar.

Distance running and philanthropy are inextricably interwoven, and the TSK 25K has motivated the public to look beyond themselves in service of the greater good over the years. A total of 22 NGOs participated in the seventh edition, which was a success and was backed by United Way Kolkata as a philanthropy partner to generate money for charity.

Eleven corporate donors took part, and a number of motivating people also raised money. 350 corporate runners joined together in an excellent turnout to support NGOs.

The Tata Steel Kolkata 25K is guided by the ideals of neutrality, transparency, accountability, and sustainability. All the dignitaries present, including Tata Steel, unveiled a docket that accounts for the monies raised.

NGOs

  • Highest Fundraising NGO: The Tata Medical Center (TMCT) – ₹ 7,00,000
  • 2nd Highest Fundraising NGO: Concern India Foundation – ₹ 5,00,000

Change Maker

  • Highest Fundraising Individual: Subrata Barman – ₹ 76,722 for Trilochanpur Association for Development in Social Welfare

Young Philanthropist 

  • Highest Fundraising Youngsters: Anuska Prakash and Arjun Prakash – ₹ 36,000 for Future Hope Foundation

 In 2014, Art for Sports was launched. Under the guidance of famous artist, the late Washim Kapoor, this project has inspired the Kolkata art community to assist a number of charities at the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K. Every year, more than 40 artists create drawings depicting what they perceive to be the event’s finish line.

As a celebration of this year’s accomplishments and in memory of the late Wasim Kapoor, 25 artists brought the hues and spirit of Kolkata to life. The artwork was selected by renowned sculptor and painter Debasish Mallick Choudhury.

Judges for the special Art for Sports workshop included Debasish Mallick Choudhury, Samir Aich, and Sanatan Dinda, who are all distinguished artists.

Achintya Bhattacharya, Arighna Saha, and Moumita Dey were announced as the winners and received cash prizes of INR 50,000, INR 30,000, and INR 15,000 respectively.
