On the occasion of the 133rd Birth Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and International Museum Day, the Indo-Vietnam Solidarity Committee in association with the Indian Museum, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India organized a photo Exhibition and Seminar on “Imprints of Indian Culture in Vietnam”.

His Excellency the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal H.E. Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose addressed the seminar as Chief Guest of Honour. His Excellency the Hon’ble Ambassador of S.R. Vietnam addressed as a Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Prof. Samir Kumar Das, Department of Political Science, University of Calcutta presided over the Seminar.

Dr. Mrinal Kanti Chakma, Director, IBMR, Kolkata, Dr. Sakti Roy Chowdhury, Associate Professor of Sanskrit, South Calcutta Girls’ College, Mr. Goutam De, Former Regional Director, ICCR, Kolkata, Dr. Tilottama, Mukharjee, Assistant Professor,  and HOD, Department of Political Science, Shyama Prasad College, Kolkata also addressed the seminar as esteemed speakers.

Our shared history is the foundation of our relationships. The Cham and Buddhist civilizations are evidence of the deep cultural ties we have had since ancient times. Through exchanges and reciprocal diplomatic collaboration in the modern era, as well as through relationships between individuals, our bilateral relations have advanced significantly. Even today, in addition to strengthening their expanding economic cooperation, the two countries bilateral relations are still most vital for their strategic partnership and people-to-people exchanges. Our two governments are fostering and promoting this enduring partnership, which is strengthening ties through several strategic pledges and private diplomacy. President Ho developed the idea of people-centered diplomacy and established a “Diplomatic Front” focused on people.

Ho Chi Minh and Jawaharlal Nehru created a strong basis for India and Vietnam’s current relationship, and that relationship is now founded on shared principles, respect, and feelings. Regardless of Indian party politics, the government and people have actively promoted friendly relations between the two nations from Nehru to Modi. Full diplomatic ties between Vietnam and India, which were established on January 7, 1972, were upgraded to the status of “Strategic Partnership” during the July 2007 visit of Vietnam’s Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, to India. When Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi visited Vietnam in September 2016, this was raised to the status of a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.

Since the late 1960s and for more than five decades, the Indo-Vietnam Solidarity Committee, a pioneering friendship society with Vietnam, has enjoyed a beautiful journey full of events and activities that have cultivated people-to-people links. It is dedicated to enhancing interpersonal relationships via a culture of peace, friendliness, and cooperation. The Indo-Vietnam Solidarity Committee has had a magnificent journey, one that is full of events and activities that promote growth and stability throughout Asia, not just between India and Vietnam.
