“It Is Important To Have Conversations About Mental Health”-Sanya Malhotra
Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted an exclusive session on entertainment, sports, and women empowerment at its 95th Annual General Meeting.
The session had lively discussions on sports, entertainment, mental health, career journeys, and the importance of women’s empowerment.
It was graced by PV Sindhu, Sanya Malhotra, Mr. Mehul Mohanka, President, Indian Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Ameya Prabhu, Senior Vice President, Indian Chamber of Commerce.
PV Sindhu recounted her experience and said, “I started playing the sport just for fun at the age of eight”. She stressed the need to make sacrifices to achieve one’s goals and attributed her successes to the sacrifices and unwavering work she put in. Sindhu also conveyed her appreciation for her parents’ steadfast support, especially for her mother. She emphasized how important it is to develop talent in sports at the grassroots level and pleaded with the administration to help young athletes. The player also underlined that she is still learning and developing in the game of badminton, which highlights the idea that education is a lifelong process for her.
Speaking about the important topic of mental health, Sanya Malhotra said, “I have gained a deeper understanding of myself thanks to therapy. I want to emphasize how crucial it is to have honest conversations about mental health, despite obstacles like cost and accessibility”.
Sanya Malhotra reflected on her career as an actor and said, “I moved to Mumbai to pursue my dreams and at first struggled with thoughts of giving up. But I persevered because of my father’s continuous support. Along with sharing my deep love of dancing, I started my career with small advertisement shoots. In addition, I discussed how my faith in the power of manifestation influenced my profession as an actress. I’m still committed to playing characters in films that will inspire others”.
