It is after many years that a doctor from Bengal has been appointed for the post of National Presidency in any medical institution. This feat was achieved by ENT specialist Dr. Dwaipayan Mukherjee. He is the youngest President in the 76-year history of this medical association.
To celebrate this achievement, the doctor was honored at an event held at the Kolkata Press Club.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mukherjee said “We have always followed the Western guidelines while treating ENT issues. But this time, I want to develop Indian guidelines for ENT treatment that will conform to the needs of Indian patients. This will help in the effective treatment of Indian patients. I would also like to involve several city authorities in combating noise and air pollution for bettering the health of the people and reducing ENT issues”.
Another highlighting issue was the relocation of the organization’s internationally renowned research journal The Indian Journal of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery from Bhopal To West Bengal. This will continue for six years.
As a result, Bengal will play an important role in shaping the ENT healthcare policies and further engage in talks with the central government.
