Zero Pencil Inaugurated on Earth Day International at Oxford Bookstore, Kolkata
Oxford Bookstore celebrated Earth Day International with a unique program. Underprivileged kids from different NGO’s of Kolkata attended the event.
The event was held in association with Earth Day Network, India and ECAS Private Limited, Pondicherry.
Karuna A Singh, Regional Director, Earth Day Network, South and South East Asia, Maina Bhagat, author Anjana Basu and others graced the event.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the Zero Pencil. The living pencil is a handmade eco-pencil which has been made from recycled wood with seeds. This has been made by ECAS in Pondicherry. The seed is present at the bottom of the pencil. One will have to moisten the soil and plant the bottom of the pencil.
Karuna A Singh urged the children to plant more trees and make the planet hospitable for them to live in.
The evening saw Anjana Basu narrate a story to the kids and also showcasing of a short film for the assembled kids.
