Sanjay Mishra Makes His Debut In Bengali Films With Phera

Pradip Kumar Nandy is producing the upcoming Bengali feature film Phera, which Nandy Movies announced recently. The film will be directed by Pritha Chakraborty. Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra, renowned for his subtle and impactful roles in Indian cinema, makes his debut in Bengali films.
Two of Bengal’s most renowned actors, Ritwick Chakraborty and Sohini Sarkar, play important roles alongside him. Phera looks to be a moving and thought-provoking film because of its captivating story and such a dynamic cast.
Regarding his Bengali film debut, Sanjay Mishra said, “Satyajit Ray and Mrinal Sen are two legends from this land that I have always loved and admired, and Bengali is a lovely language. It’s thrilling and enlightening to make your first foray into Bengali cinema with Nandy Movies and a sensitive filmmaker like Pritha Chakraborty. Working with some of the best talent in the Bengali film industry excites me. As we get ready to embrace the process of creating it, I hope the audience embraces this story as well”.
Phera is about two males. One house that is no longer as sturdy as it once was.
Priyam keeps up with the pace of the city, which encourages speed and creativity. Once a local hero, his father Pannalal now gauges time by rust and habits. Their two worlds—and worldviews—are brought into uncomfortable closeness when the past bursts.
The story of Phera is one of silent reflections on what we define as success, how much we leave behind, and what is left behind after the noise subsides. The awkward poetry of coming back—not to glory, but to someone who still has a seat reserved for you—is the subject of this work. Not every life arc. They reverberate.

Ritwick said, “I can’t wait to participate in Phera. Pritha’s ability to think and make her stories come to life has always impressed me; her guidance is astute and sensitive. It is an honour to share the screen with the renowned Sanjay Mishra, and I am eagerly anticipating this adventure”.
Sohini said, “Even though I play a small part in Phera, it has a significant emotional impact on the narrative. Sometimes the impact is more important than the length. I’m happy to collaborate with such talented co-actors and to share in Pritha’s vision”.
The director said, “Phera started as a silent query that kept coming back to me: What is home? A location? An individual? A past that is in the past? I was drawn to two men who are both, in their ways, stuck in a world that is fixated on progress and success. Memory holds one back, while momentum holds the other one back. However, I discovered something incredibly human in the silence between them. Big changes and strong emotions are not the focus of this movie. The dignity of small lives, everyday perseverance, and the awkward tenderness that exists between people who have lost the ability to speak but are still able to listen are all important themes. I wanted to investigate what it means to return with Phera—not in victory, but in truth”.
The music will be composed by Anindya Chatterjee.
The film is now in the pre-production phase, and the shoot will start soon.
