The press conference of the psychological thriller Bibhishon was graced by director Raja Chanda, actors Soham Majumdar, Debchandrima Singha Roy, Debopriyo Mukherjee, and others.

Bibhishon narrates a compelling tale set in the serene town of Birbhum, which abruptly becomes the epicenter of bizarre and horrifying happenings. The local police station is rocked by a vicious murder, a headless body found, and an enigmatic theft. Soham Majumdar portrays Sub-Inspector Bidhan Sen, a composed and astute police officer whose personal life is already in disarray, who is at the center of this storm. He is now compelled to navigate a labyrinth of secrets that put him in even greater danger as he deals with a series of strange cases.

Raja Chanda said that the incidents shown in the series and the characters in it will be very similar to the people and happenings around us. He was attracted to the story immediately on reading it.

When questioned about the violence shown in web series in recent times, the director said, “When we make series, we want to make it real. As a result, only that much violence is shown that is necessary. Moreover, if one talks about violence, it is more prevalent in real life than in films and series. You open the television or read the newspaper, and the crimes are so grave and violent. Filmmakers do not promote violence. They only show it to justify the story”.

“I have wanted to work with Debchandrima and Soham for a long time. Debchandrima is an effortless actress, and I have enjoyed working with both of them. Now the audience will see the series to judge whether I have selected the right actors for the roles,” said the director.

The director also added that there are two kinds of audience now. One watches series and the other loves to watch films. Hence, directors have to be aware of the films or series they are making and keep in mind their target audience.

Debopriyo Mukherjee plays a police officer in the series. “I had my doubts initially about playing a police officer again. I had played one recently. However, Raja da said to trust him, and I did that. Hope I have lived up to his expectations. Our director was the most energetic person on the set. From morning till pack up, he was always encouraging us, and we never saw him tired,” said the actor.

Soham Majumdar said, “I am so happy with the audience feedback for the trailer and music of the series. I am thankful to Shiva for blessing us. I play a cop, Bidhan Sen, in the series. Alok da, who is a member of the cast, is a police officer in real life. He gave us great insights as to how to play the role. 95 percent of the police officers believe in God. God is their comfort space. So all these helped me a lot in prepping for this role”.

Debchandrima said, “I agreed to the story just by believing in Raja da. As actors, we love to explore, and this character gave me that chance. I play a character who is pregnant. This is a mature character. I want to thank my elder sister for helping me in portraying this role. I asked her about the emotional and mental ups and downs that she experienced when she was pregnant. That helped me a lot in enacting this character”.

Bibhishon starts streaming from June 27, only on ZEE5.
