New Film Pagla Ghora Announced; Shoot In Progress

Upcoming Bengali film Pagla Ghora, based on an important play by Badal Sircar, was announced recently.
Gracing the occasion were director Sekhar Das, cast members Gargee Roychowdhury, Rajatava Dutta, Rwitobroto Mukherjee, Dirghoee Pal, Dr. Prabir Bhowmik, and Bipasha Ghoshal of Swabhumi Entertainment, and others.

This film is a tribute to the eminent playwright on his birth centenary in 2025.
Pagla Ghora is a critique of the patriarchal hypocrisy in our society. It also speaks about emotional repression.

Sekhar Das said, “Dr. Prabir Bhowmik listened to the story of Pagla Ghora and immediately agreed to produce the film. For the character of the female character, I only thought of Gargee. She has a great education in this field. When I told her about it and sent the script, she immediately read it. When I called the other cast members, everyone agreed to do the film, and I am very grateful for that”.
The director also added that he liked the comedies written by Badal Sircar. Many of his plays have great cinematic elements, and this is also evident in Pagla Ghora. “Badal da went to France for a scholarship. However, he could not understand the language. He went to watch the films and the plays and could understand the plot by watching them. However, the memory of watching the plays and the films stayed with him, and he wrote them down in his plays,” added the director.

Gargee Roychowdhury said, “Whenever I have read Pagla Ghora, I have found it to be very cinematic. My character does not have a name. It can be anyone. The four male characters can be anyone in our society. The play is not feminist. It is full of Bangaliana”.
Rajatava Dutta said, “I am so surprised that a play written so many years ago is so relevant even now. It will be a great journey for all of us when the shoot begins for this film”.
Indraadip Dasgupta will compose the music of the film.
Arghya Kamal Mitra is the editor of the film.
The shoot of the film has already started.
