The ethnic wear boutique WEVOW, located in Kolkata, just opened its newest store at No. 116 Southern Avenue, Post Office – Sarat Bose Road, Police Station Lake, Kolkata – 700029 (Behind Oudh, Opposite Pico, Vivekananda Park).

Arpita Bhattacharjee and Chiranjit Podder founded WEVOW in 2017 because they both had a deep love for Indian culture and textile design. The brand’s original pledge to provide beauty, comfort, and authenticity in each piece is reflected in the name itself.

Actor and model Miss Sushmita Roy, the runner-up for Miss Universe India 2024, was the Chief Guest at the launch along with the owners.

With an existing location on Bangur Avenue, the new boutique offered handcrafted, opulent ethnic clothing with a unique design voice, expanding the brand’s customer base.

The 500-square-foot Southern Avenue store combined thoughtful modern elegance with vintage charm.

The area is split into two floors: the ground floor is devoted to casual, office-appropriate, and everyday wear, while the mezzanine floor features a more opulent assortment of bridal and festive attire, ranging from intricately woven sarees to embroidered zardozi blouses.

The interior of the boutique is decorated with soft ivory walls, a striking black-and-white checkered floor, and antique brass chandeliers that provide a classic, warm glow. The boutique character of the space was enhanced by exquisite wall sconces and carved mirrors, which created a calm yet elegant ambiance that echoes the brand’s design ethos.

The fabrics used in WEVOW’s collections, which include raw silk, organza, Chikankari, Kalamkari cotton, Jamdani, velvet, and more, pay homage to the excellence of artisanal craftsmanship. While their saree collection, which includes elaborate French knot Tussar and heritage Jamdani as well as featherlight organza drapes, continues to evoke elegance and individuality, their signature zardozi blouses with backless or front-open silhouettes continue to be showstoppers.
