Ruby Hospital’s Digital PET CT Scan Boasts New Features

The Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, Version 3.0, featuring its most user-friendly and sophisticated contouring system, along with the Eclipse version 18 planning system, has already been deployed by Ruby Cancer Center, a division of Ruby General Hospital, marking a groundbreaking development for Eastern India. This is the first of its sort in Eastern India, and for quicker treatment, they also have a specialized CT simulator. Because it offers accurate and efficient care, this technology has completely changed the way that cancer is treated.
The first digital PET CT scan in Kolkata was also formally launched by Ruby General Hospital. With special features and specifications, the PET CT scan will take five minutes instead of thirty, and the patient will only receive one-third of the radiation dose. Additionally, it will improve the clarity of the images. The ability of digital PET CT to identify even the smallest tumors that analog PET CT misses is its greatest benefit. While the best analog PET CT can detect tumors larger than 4.3 mm, it can detect tumors about 2.9 mm. Through early detection, this will reduce patient suffering and save countless lives.
The benefits are as follows :
- Superior Image Quality and Lesion Detection
- Enhanced Image Contrast
- Lower Radiation Dose
- Faster Scanning Time
- Increased Patient Comfort
- More Specific Disease Insights
- Easy workflow with AI at every step
- Improved Quantitative Accuracy, providing more precise and reliable data
- Motion management with no external device – Digital Self-Gating for resolving the lesions in the chest and abdomen
- Motion Management for the Brain, especially for patients with Parkinson’s and neurodegenerative disorders, who tend to move during the scan
The significance of preventive oncology and how basic cancer screening tests, such as Pap smears, mammograms, low-dose CT scans of the chest (LDCT), colonoscopies, and prostate-specific antigen (PSA), can aid in the early detection of cancer were also discussed by Dr. Kamal K. Dutta, Chairman and Managing Director.
