The PLASTINDIA 2026 Kolkata Roadshow was held at the JW Marriott Kolkata by the Plastindia Foundation, which organizes the world’s largest plastics exhibition. To highlight the enormous growth trajectory of West Bengal’s plastics industry, which is set to receive over 3,000 crore in new capital expenditure, the event brought together legislators and business leaders.

The goal of the Honourable Chief Minister, Smt. Mamata Banerjee, to make West Bengal a global center for manufacturing, especially by empowering the MSME sector, was greatly aided by this investment. It is anticipated that this new investment wave will boost the state’s GDP by an additional 20,000 crore and generate almost 2 lakh new jobs.

The roadshow was graced by Chief Guest Janab Firhad Hakim, Honourable Mayor of Kolkata and Minister for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, and Guest of Honour Smt. Vandana Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industry, Commerce & Enterprises, Government of West Bengal.

The event was held in collaboration with the Indian Plastics Federation (IPF).

In keeping with the state’s “Egiye Bangla (Bengal Marches Forward)” industrial policy, the roadshow emphasized West Bengal’s rise as a high-growth hub for the polymer industry. Large-scale initiatives to assist this boom include:

Haldia Petrochemicals (HPL) is investing more than 5,000 crore to build the biggest Phenol & Acetone plant in India, which will provide MSMES with substantial downstream potential.

To address growing demand, the Indian Plastics Federation (IPF) intends to build at least two new poly parks, one of which will be located in Uluberia.

The creation of a new sector skill center at Sankrail to train future workers.

West Bengal’s current per capita plastic use, at 9 kg, is much lower than the national average of 15 kg, highlighting the enormous potential for expansion and pointing to a sizable, unexplored home market.

The eastern region’s official involvement in PLASTINDIA 2026 will begin with the roadshow. The new, cutting-edge Bharat Mandapam (IECC) in New Delhi will host the 12th edition of this massive event, with the theme “Bharat Next”, from February 5–10, 2026.

PLASTINDIA 2026 is set to be the world’s largest gathering for the industry, with 2,000+ exhibitors, 600,000+ visitor footfall, and 80+ participating countries.

The Kolkata roadshow included a thorough presentation on the exhibition and keynote addresses from the dignitaries in attendance.
