In the august presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other ministers, celebrities like June Malia, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar, Arindam Sil and others, the third edition of the Durga Puja Carnival was held in Kolkata.

Seventy five Durga Puja committees participated in the event. The carnival began from 4.30 pm and every committee got about one and half minutes for their brief performance.

The first committee which walked down Red Road was Sreebhumi Sporting Club. The theme was Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh fort.

Next Ekdalia Evergreen followed. Ballygunje Cultural Association, Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja and many other pujas from different parts of the city followed them.

Biswa Bangla Sharad Samman awards were given to Bhowanipur 75 Palli (Best concept/ idea category) and Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja (Best pandal category).

30000 people gathered at the event while two thousand police, sniffer dogs and drones were employed for security purposes.
