Renowned Odissi exponent Dona Ganguly curated and conducted an amazing presentation for Vasanta Utsav 2026, transforming the Indian Museum’s ancient Central Courtyard into a colorful celebration of spring.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Indian Museum, Prabha Khaitan Foundation, and Diksha Manjari organized the event, which brought together families, dignitaries, art enthusiasts, and elderly citizens to greet the season in style.

Together with the talented students of Diksha Manjari, her prestigious Odissi institution, Dona Ganguly curated a captivating showcase for the festival, featuring evocative compositions that masterfully captured the spirit of Vasanta, a season that symbolizes joy, rebirth, and artistic blossoming.

The show demonstrated Dona Ganguly’s lasting influence on Indian classical dance as well as her steadfast dedication to fostering the next generation of performers. Her choreography filled the courtyard with dedication, rhythm, and celebration by skillfully fusing tradition with poetic storytelling. The recital struck a profound chord with the audience, which included older residents and notable guests. Many of them were clearly impressed by its grace and profundity.

Ananda Gupta’s heartfelt Rabindra Sangeet performances gave the occasion a rich musical dimension. Shri Sundeep Bhutoria skillfully directed the program’s narrative flow, giving the celebration structure and continuity through his poetic comments.

Dona Ganguly has been leading Odissi in Bengal for many years, creating a cultural movement through Diksha Manjari that still encourages self-discipline, creativity, and pride in India’s traditional customs. Her position as one of the state’s top cultural ambassadors was once again confirmed by her leadership during Vasanta Utsav 2026.

Dona Ganguly said, “Spring symbolizes renewal, hope, and harmony,” during her remarks. We commemorate the continuation of our cultural legacy as well as the beauty of the season with Vasanta Utsav. Seeing my pupils genuinely and passionately uphold the Odissi ethos makes me very happy. We are reminded that tradition must always endure and change when we perform at a historic venue like the Indian Museum.
