The Election Commission of India has chosen to use the well-known animated character Chhota Bheem in a major voter outreach campaign to raise voter awareness and turnout in the Howrah district. The program is a component of the Election Commission’s continuous efforts to improve accessibility, inclusivity, and engagement of the electoral process, particularly for young and first-time voters in the state. “Chunav Ka Parv, Paschim Bengal Ka Garv” is the campaign’s catchphrase, which aims to inform and inspire people to cast ballots in large numbers.

On April 23 and 29, 2026, there will be two phases of voting for the next West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections. On May 4, 2026, the votes will be counted, and the results will be announced.

Rajiv Chilaka, Founder & CEO, Green Gold Animation, said, “We are pleased that EC has chosen to incorporate our well-known animated character into their awareness campaign. This is consistent with the brand’s broader public interest associations, which include partnerships with government and PSU-affiliated organizations on literacy, public safety, education, and awareness campaigns. This partnership aims to promote a positive civic spirit around the democratic process and increase voter awareness in a visible, memorable, and participatory manner”.

One of the most well-known animated characters in India, Chhota Bheem, has participated in public awareness campaigns in a few areas. This is indicative of a growing trend in which civic messages are conveyed through entertainment. Previous outreach initiatives, such as those by Western Railways, have demonstrated that innovative communication via digital platforms and on-site engagement can successfully reach a variety of audiences.
