“I Have Never Been Afraid To Fail”- Sushmita Sen

In a powerful celebration of leadership and personal transformation, the Ladies Study Group (LSG) hosted an inspiring evening featuring former Miss Universe and acclaimed actress Sushmita Sen. The special event, titled “The Changemaker,” brought together a distinguished audience to explore the themes of authenticity, resilience, and individuality.
The session, held in the heart of Kolkata, served as a platform for Sen to share the pivotal experiences that have shaped her celebrated career and personal life. Moderated by noted film critic and satirist Stutee Ghosh, the conversation delved into the nuances of decision-making and the importance of staying committed to one’s core values, even in the face of significant setbacks.

Throughout the interactive dialogue, Sen emphasized that discipline and consistency are the bedrock of any long-term career. She shared personal anecdotes about balancing professional responsibilities with personal growth, encouraging attendees to take accountability for their own journeys.
Sushmita Sen said, “Many people say that I inspire them. But I have been inspired by many women in my life. My 18-year-old self was not eloquent, did not know much English, and came from a good middle-class family. I have always been fearless. I have never been afraid to fail. I have detached myself from the idea that I have failed in something. My attempts failed, but I have not failed”.

The actress said that fear is a powerful tool. Where there is fear, there is courage. They are two sides of the same coin. “Women have been conditioned to fear many things throughout their lives. I had a hard time overcoming my fears all these years. If I ever write a book, I will write about the things that I have overcome,” added Sushmita.
The evening concluded with a broader discussion on the impact of everyday decisions. Speakers highlighted how individual choices contribute to the larger social fabric, urging the audience to consider how their personal contributions can shape society for the better.
