With three very different films scheduled for release in 2026—Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, directed by Bhushan Kumar and Juno Chopra; Udta Teer, produced by Karan Johar; and Yeh Prem Mol Liya, directed by Sooraj Barjatya—Ayushmann Khurrana is expected to demonstrate a broad creative range that continues to define his filmography. Ayushmann’s reputation as a Master of Diversity in Hindi cinema has been further cemented by his outstanding 2026 slate, which showcases his persistent efforts to investigate diverse narrative spaces within mainstream cinema.

Ayushmann has established a reputation over the years for supporting content that strikes a balance between originality and entertainment, and this lineup carries on that tradition. Every film offers a different aspect of storytelling and a different Ayushmann, from the lighthearted, situational humor of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do to the disruptive, distinctive story of Udta Teer and the culturally grounded, emotional family film Yeh Prem Mol Liya. When taken as a whole, they highlight his natural tendency to steer clear of repetition and instead favor variety as a defining quality.

Khurrana said, “I’ve never really approached my career with the intention of ticking boxes or consciously trying to appear diverse. For me, it has always come down to gut feeling and the stories that most resonate with me as a viewer. It’s thrilling to have three very different movies released in the same year, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. Each of these movies falls into a distinct category; one is based on relationships and humor, the other is more eccentric and disruptive, and the third is firmly anchored in custom and family values. That change forces me to constantly reinvent myself as an actor and keeps me on my toes”.

Ayushmann also noted that one of his driving forces has been the audience’s desire for novelty on screens. “I’ve always thought that audiences today are extremely intelligent because they don’t want to see you doing the same thing repeatedly. I always try to surprise them because that’s what they want. However, I also want to stick to the kind of filmmaking that I think is important, beginning with stories that are both entertaining and thought-provoking,” said the actor.

“If this trip is perceived as diverse, I appreciate that, but for me, it really comes down to being inquisitive and truthful in my decisions. I hope to continue doing that with every film I choose because that’s what has helped me build a connection with the audience over the years,” added the actor.

Ayushmann anticipates that all of his films will be well-received by the public and plans to continue his successful run at the box office.
