Emperor vs. Sarat Chandra’s pre-teaser has finally been released, offering the first look at what looks to be one of the most eagerly awaited Bengali movies of Pujo 2026.

The film, which combines the artistic vision of renowned director Srijit Mukherji with the production company Nandy Movies, draws inspiration from one of the most intriguing periods in Bengali literary history. The renowned Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, whose words rocked colonial authority and whose famous book Pather Dabi became a symbol of resistance against the British Empire, is at its core.

Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra brings to life the mysterious revolutionary Sabyasachi Mallick, the man, the myth, the ultimate rebel—one of Bengali literature’s most enduring and captivating characters—as the centennial of Pather Dabi draws near. It revisits the remarkable struggle between imperial power and the written word.

Produced by Pradip Kumar Nandy under the banner of Nandy Movies, the film’s cast consists of Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Choudhury, Mimi Chakraborty, Divyani Mondal, and Rik Chatterjee.

Srijit Mukherji’s debut as a music composer adds another noteworthy milestone to the project. He creates the background score and soundtrack for the movie, adding a very personal creative touch to this ambitious cinematic endeavor.
