Sapphire Production released the official poster for ‘The Calcutta Files’, a socio-political crime thriller produced by Tapasi Das and directed by Souvik Dey. The film weaves a narrative of mystery, corruption, justice, and resistance, unfolding against the modern-day backdrop of Kolkata. The poster provided the first visual look at the film’s world and its central conflict.

The story centers on Dr. Aarohi Sen, a young physician who challenged corruption and unlawful practices in the public healthcare system. The mysterious murder of her sent shockwaves through the city and prompted an investigation led by Crime Branch officer Aditya Burman and his colleague Chayan Banerjee. As the investigation progressed, Aditya found a more profound link among crime, political influence, and conspiracy. While pursuing the truth, Aarohi’s mother kept fighting for justice, determined not to leave her daughter’s death without accountability. The film juxtaposes the parallel battles of an officer striving to reveal the truth and a mother fighting for justice on behalf of her daughter.

The film stars Gourab Roy Chowdhury as Rittik, Rajatava Dutta as Aditya Burman, Payel Das as Aarohi Sen, Chandan Sen as Police Officer Chayan Banerjee, Laboni Sarkar as Sarmistha, Sudip Mukherjee as a Doctor, Swagata Mukherjee as Chief Minister Susmita, Anindya Pulak in a special character, and Judhajit Sarkar as Debraj Bhattacharya.

“The story of The Calcutta Files is built around mystery, emotion, struggle, and protest. But its true power comes from the unyielding determination of the people. The officer’s resolve to uncover the truth, combined with the outcry of everyday people, makes up the essence of this film. I believe cinema serves not just as a form of entertainment, but also as a potent means to challenge society, provoke thought, and inspire change. It was this belief that prompted us to begin the journey of creating The Calcutta Files. The film’s screenplay has been written by Souvik Dey, Arnab Bhoumik and Abhisekh Bhattacharyya.

The music has been composed by Dev Sen and Pratik Kundu.

The poster launch kicked off the film’s promotional campaign, offering audiences their first glimpse into the characters, visual style, and themes that define The Calcutta Files.
